Van Rooi Meat’s state-of-the-art abattoir in Helmond specialises in the slaughter and processing of pork.

02The process from animal to delivery

Everything under one roof

At Van Rooi Meat, we oversee the entire process from start to finish at a single location. This allows us to guarantee maximum control, short lines of communication and consistent quality.

Inspection of incoming pigs

Upon arrival, the animals are carefully unloaded. A veterinary inspection follows straight away, ensuring their health and welfare are thoroughly checked.

Respectful slaughter process

The slaughter process is carried out in accordance with the strictest animal welfare standards. Monitoring is supported by smart cameras and the presence of qualified animal welfare officers. In addition, animal welfare organisations provide us with expert advice. This approach ensures that the process is conducted respectfully and with minimal stress for the animals.

Cooling

After slaughter, the carcasses are selected based on weight, muscle thickness and meat-to-fat ratio, and then placed directly into the cooling system. This controlled chilling process ensures a fully closed cold chain, guaranteeing consistently high standards of both meat quality and food safety.

Processing and portioning

With our craftsmanship, supported by an advanced machine park, carcasses are sold whole, cut into various portions, or processed into end products depending on demand. This process is carried out under strict hygiene regulations, with efficiency and product quality always at the core.

Quality control and traceability

Every step of the process is subjected to extensive quality checks. We work with certified quality systems and a dedicated quality department. This continuous monitoring ensures consistent product quality and maximum food safety for our customers.
