Family-owned businesses Van Loon Group and Van Rooi have received final approval for their proposed merger. This marks an important milestone, and both companies are taking the next step towards realising their shared ambition: strengthening their position in the market and continuing to build a healthy, sustainable and future-proof food chain.
With this approval, a new phase begins in which both companies will continue to build on their knowledge, experience and shared ambitions. The merger offers the opportunity to join forces, strengthen one another and respond even better to customer needs, market developments and the challenges within the food chain. For customers, supply chain partners and other stakeholders, continuity in service provision and collaboration remains the guiding principle.
This step also marks an important moment for employees. Both companies are convinced that the combination offers new opportunities for further growth, development and collaboration. At the same time, the strength, culture and commitment of both family-run businesses remain an important foundation for the future. It is precisely by bringing together the best of both companies that a combination is created that is ready for tomorrow.
Marc van Rooi, CEO of Van Rooi
“This is an important moment for both companies and it prepares the business for the next generation. We look forward to joining forces and continuing to build a future-proof company together, in which we can serve our customers, suppliers and employees even better and contribute to a healthy and sustainable food chain.”
Robert van Ballegooijen, CEO of Van Loon Group
“The merger brings together two family businesses, each with their own qualities, knowledge, expertise and DNA. It is precisely this combination that gives us confidence in the future. We are taking this step with pride, with respect for where we come from and with a clear vision of what we can achieve together.”
The management of the combined company will consist of
CEO Hans Roelofs, Marc van Rooi and Robert van Ballegooijen. Marc van Rooi will remain responsible for Van Rooi and Robert van Ballegooijen for Van Loon Group. Both companies will continue to operate independently under their own names.
About the merger
Van Rooi and Van Loon Group together form a powerful combination of two family-owned businesses from Brabant, with a combined turnover of over 2 billion euros and more than 4,900 employees. Whilst Van Rooi has been a leader in the primary process and global industrial sales of meat for over 70 years, Van Loon Group has, over 55 years, established a leading position in sustainable meat and convenience products for retail and foodservice in the Netherlands and Belgium.
It is precisely this complementary strength that makes the combination unique: active in all links of the food chain, from farm to fork, with a leading position in retail, foodservice and industry. Together, both companies will continue to build a high-quality, transparent and future-proof food chain, whilst continuing to operate independently under their own names.
